Speaker1: [00:00:03] Hello and welcome to single The Soulmate Podcast.

Speaker2: [00:00:06] Where we help you, the love warrior or love where to be to go from single to with your soulmate. Living the life of your dreams.

Speaker1: [00:00:23] Recently I read an awesome book. It’s called Mindset The New Psychology of Success How We Can Learn to Fulfill Our Potential. And in this book, the author, Carol Dweck, she’s actually a professor of psychology at Stanford University. And after decades of research on achievement and success, she discovered a simple yet I really think, profound and life changing idea. And here it is. It’s that your mindset makes all the difference in your success in any area, not just business, not just sports, not just parenting, but in your relationships as well. And in her research, she found that people actually display mainly one of these two mindsets, either fixed mindset or growth mindset. Now, listen in here. This is really cool. So in a fixed mindset, people believe that their basic qualities, like their intelligence or their talent or how they get along in relationships are simply fixed traits. So people with a fixed mindset believe that their traits are really just givens, that they are the way they are, and that’s that they feel that they have a certain amount of brains and talent and nothing can change that. Now, if they have a lot of brains and talent, well, they’re all set. What if they don’t? Oh, well. So people in this mindset worry about their traits and how adequate they are. They are terrified of looking bad. Of being exposed as not being perfect.

Speaker1: [00:02:05] And just not having it all together. The people in the fixed mindset, they feel like they have something to prove to themselves and to others. Always they avoid trying and they spend their time documenting their intelligence or their talent instead of developing them. Now, they also believe that natural talent, also known as luck or a special blessing from God, that this alone creates success without any effort. Now, all of Dr. Duke’s research proves that this mindset is completely ineffective in creating success and fulfillment in any area of life. And when it comes to how human beings are made and how our brains work, it’s just plain wrong now in a growth mindset, on the other hand. People believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, and that the brains and talent that God gave them is just really the starting point. Now, of course, they’re happy if they’re super brainy and super talented, but they don’t just stop there. They understand that no one has ever accomplished great things. Not Mozart, not Darwin, not Michael Jordan. Without years of passionate practice and learning. Now this view, this mindset creates a love of learning. And really it creates a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment in all areas of life. Virtually all successful people have had these qualities.

Speaker1: [00:03:48] So the passion for stretching yourself and sticking to accomplishing your dreams, even, or especially when it’s not going well, is a character trait of the growth mindset. This is the mindset that allows people to thrive despite huge challenges in their lives. Now. I have a question for you. Have you had what might be described as huge challenges in love and relationships? Now. I know I did. I know Johnny did. And most of our clients as well. Now, I have to say, as I read this book, I see how most of my life I’ve had a growth mindset. I’ve had a growth mindset, especially around love and relationships and finding my soulmate. But I’ve also had a few areas in my life where I displayed a fixed mindset, and that has really held me back in those areas. One major area that I’ve had a fixed mindset about is in the area of fitness. I’ve never been, quote unquote, naturally talented at sports or fitness activities. And so I’ve held myself back from really growing in this area since I never allowed myself to identify with athletic as a label for myself. And I still struggle in this area to this day. So what about you? In the area of love and relationships, what kind of mindset would you say that you’ve had if you have been thinking, Oh, my picture is off or I’ve just had bad luck with men? You’ve been thinking thoughts like that.

Speaker1: [00:05:24] You’ve most likely been in a fixed mindset around this area. So here’s the good news. You can learn to take on a growth mindset. That’s what I’m committed to do this year around fitness and sports, and I know if I can do it, so can you. You can take on a growth mindset around love and relationships and attracting your soul mate. I have a question for you that I’d love to hear this from you. Where have you had a fixed mindset in your life and how did it affect you? Where can you take on a growth mindset to help you move forward in your life? Please do share. I would love to hear from you, and I do my best to respond to every comment in every share. All right. There’s comments there below and you can just respond there.
